The current version of the server is running on a Linux 2.4 kernel. The entire system is implemented using Java based technologies.
Client technologies
HyLighter runs on most popular browsers, does not require any additional client-side software to use, and is adaptable to either local or distance settings for either synchronous or asynchronous use. This means no software to download or upgrade and no system incompatibility issues.
Document types supported by HyLighter
HyLighter internally stores all documents in XHTML format. The system has plug-ins implemented to convert native HTML, most image formats, Word, PDF, and some XLS (Excel) files into XHTML. The HyLighter interface shields users from any complexity in uploading or importing files to the system and converting them .
